Prunus laurocerasus is an evergreen (hardy) shrub that is ideal as a hedge plant due to its dense and upright growth.
The shrub is characterized by its glossy, dark green leaves and the beautiful, creamy white flowers, which adorn the shrub in upright racemes in May and June. Later in the season, bay cherries bear black berries, which attract many birds that love the small berries.
Prunus laurocerasus is often used as a hedge plant and quickly becomes a beautiful lush hedge after planting. The shrub also has the distinction of being both drought and shade tolerant and unaffected by polluted city air or road salt. Prunus laurocerasus is best suited as a clipped hedge plant and tolerates hard pruning as well as topiary.
