Prunus Lusitanica Angustifolia is an evergreen shrub, ideal as a hedge plant because of its dense and upright growth, drought and shade tolerance and it does not attract polluted city air or road salt. Popular types of Prunus laurocerasus are 'Etna', 'Genolia', 'Novita', 'Otto Luyken' and 'Augustifolia'.

Prunus Lusitanica Angustifolia is often used as a hedge plant and soon becomes a beautiful lush hedge after planting. The shrub also has the distinction of being both drought and shade tolerant and unaffected by polluted city air or road salt. Prunus Lusitanica Angustifolia is best suited as a clipped hedge plant and tolerates hard pruning as well as topiary.

Popular varieties of Prunus laurocerasus
There are several types of Prunus laurocerasus, all of which differ in growth and leaf shape. Below are the most popular varieties of laurel cherries:

'Etna': compact growth with large, broad leaves. Grows approx. 30 cm per year and reaches a height of 4-6 m without pruning.
'Genolia': narrow, compact and upright growth, creating a narrow, dense hedge. Grows 40-60 cm per year and reaches a maximum height of 4 m.
'Novita': compact growth with glossy, dark green leaves. Can grow up to 6 m without pruning.
'Otto Luyken': compact growth and low and broad growing with narrow, dark green leaves. Grows 1-1,5 m high.
'Augustifolia': Elliptical leaves and can have beautiful red stems. Grows 2-3 m high and wide.
