The Medinilla is a beautiful and remarkable houseplant. This plant belongs to the Malastomataceae family and is native to Southeast Asia and the tropical part of Africa. Originally the Medinilla Magnifica comes from the Philippines where the plant is called 'Kapa-Kapa'.
The Medinilla belongs to the epiphytes, these are plants that grow on the branches of a tree without extracting nutrients from it. The stems of the plant feel like a cork and are square in shape. From these stems come the leaves of the Medinilla. The plant is known for its hanging flowers that bloom for an average of 3-5 months.
