Fagus sylvatica – beech hedge – buy

Original price was: €6.95.Current price is: €4.95.

The beech hedge (Fagus sylvatica) is a super cool plant that you can use to make a beautiful hedge. In the spring the beech hedge gets beautiful green leaves and in the winter the leaves remain on the plant for a while, so that you also have privacy in the winter. You can use the beech hedge for both low and high hedges.

The beech hedge looks a bit like the Hornbeam, but there are also differences between the two plants. Here are the main differences:

The beech hedge is more often used as a hedge plant than the hornbeam.
The leaves of the beech hedge stay on the plant longer in winter, while the hornbeam loses its leaves.
The hornbeam gets new leaves earlier in the year than the beech hedge.
The Hornbeam grows faster and is cheaper to buy.
The hornbeam does better on heavy clay soil than the beech hedge.
At Stekjesbrief.nl you can buy very good beech hedges. We get our plants from specialized nurseries that take very good care of the environment. They even have the MPS A+ certificate, which means that they work very sustainably.

To make a beautiful hedge, you need approximately these numbers per meter:

Height 40/60 cm and 60/80 cm: 7 plants per metre.
Height 80/100 cm and 100/125 cm: 5 plants per metre.
Height 125/150 cm and 150/175 cm: 4 plants per metre.
Height 175/200 cm to 200/225 cm: 3 plants per meter (super nice, full beeches).
You can also opt for a double hedge. Then you plant the beeches in a zigzag pattern, so that the hedge becomes wider and fuller and you cannot walk through it. For a double hedge you need different numbers of plants per meter.

If you are going to prune the beech hedge, it is best to do this twice a year, in April and September. This keeps your hedge nice and full and beautiful. Our beech hedges already have many branches and are of good quality. Note: the height we indicate is without the roots or pot.

At Stekjesbrief.nl you always get beech hedges that are three years old. They have already been transplanted once, so they already have good roots that draw nutrition and water from the soil. Other stores often sell younger plants, but we don't. If we do have younger plants, we will clearly state that.

We pack the beech hedges very well so that they do not dry out during transport. This is how we ensure that they arrive at you in good health.i
