Buying and caring for Aglaonema 'Silver Queen'

The Aglaonema originates from tropical areas of Indonesia and surroundings. Aglaonema species belong to the family Araceae, or arums. There are not many different Aglaonema species, about 55 of which only a few are known as houseplants. These plants have a unique leaf with beautiful patterns. Striped or spot markings are often visible in the leaf. Most Aglaonema species are green with grey/white markings. But there are also varieties with red / purple colors in the leaves and on the stems. Aglaonemas stay low because the leaves grow almost directly from the ground. There is hardly any stem. The plant will not grow much larger than 90cm. This variety is easy to maintain.
