Description

This water meter is an excellent helper! A sensor in the probe of the water meter indicates whether the soil is moist or not. If the red color is flashing, the soil is dry and if the color is green, there is still enough moisture in the soil. As the soil becomes less moist, the light turns orange. Features both an instant and a permanent mode. We recommend using the Plants Thirsty Light indoors. Two LR44 batteries are included. They last about 1 year and are easy to replace. Dutch manual.

The Plants Thirsty Light is delivered in the “off” position to save the batteries. Before inserting the sensor into the ground, turn the meter “on” by pressing and holding the button for 3 seconds. When activated, the light will flash 3 times and immediately begin to measure the moisture content of the soil. Insert the green probe into the soil of your plant. Make sure to press the soil against the probe with your fingers. Push the soil moisture sensor into the soil until it reaches “5” on the probe. Once the sensor is turned on, the soil moisture is measured every two hours. If the moisture level is good, the indicator will flash green once. When the plant needs water, the indicator flashes orange 3 times. When the indicator light flashes red every six seconds, you are reminded to water immediately. While adding water, the moisture level will return to normal and the indicator will stop flashing red. Quickly follows one green flash to indicate that the moisture level is sufficient again. Easy to adjust if you want the sensor to warn you earlier or later, depending on how much water your plant needs (see manual).

Manual Plants Thirsty Light

Warning: When inserting and pulling out of the ground ALWAYS hold the green probe and NEVER the white housing to avoid damage. The Thirsty Light is intended for indoor use only.

The Plants Thirsty Light is delivered in the off position to save the batteries. Before inserting the sensor into the soil, turn the meter on by pressing and holding the button for 3 seconds. When activated, the light will flash red and green 3X and the Thirsty Light will continue to flash red as long as the device is not plugged into the ground. If you do not use the Thirsty Light for an extended period of time, press the button again for 3 seconds and the light will now flash 3X red and green again. Then the Thirsty Light stops flashing and the batteries are saved.

Permanent mode (the Thirsty Light stays with the plant)
Insert the green probe into the soil of your plant. Make sure to press the soil against the probe with your fingers. Push the soil moisture sensor into the soil until it reaches the number 4 on the green probe. Once the sensor is turned on, the soil moisture is measured every two hours. If the moisture level is good, the indicator will flash green once. When the plant needs water, the indicator flashes orange 3 times. The moment the indicator light flashes red, you are reminded to water immediately. While adding water, the moisture level will return to normal and the indicator will stop flashing red. Quickly follows one green flash to indicate that the moisture level is sufficient again.

Direct mode (you take a measurement once)
Insert the Thirsty Light into the soil to mark 5 on the probe. Now briefly press the button. When the green light comes on, the soil is sufficiently moist. When the orange light is on, the soil begins to dry out. You may now water. If the red light is on, the soil is too dry and you should water immediately.

Your plant needs a lot of water or you want to be warned faster by the red light
If you have a plant that needs more than average water, or you would like to be alerted more quickly by the red light, place the Thirsty Light up to mark 3 on the green probe in the soil. If this does not lead to the desired result, try again to mark 2 or even mark 1 on the probe. Make sure to always press the soil against the probe with your fingers.

Your plant needs little water or you want to be warned later by the red light
If you have a plant that needs less than average water or you wish to be warned by the red light later, place the Thirsty Light up to mark 5 on the green probe in the soil. If this does not lead to the desired result, try again to mark 6 or even mark 7 on the probe. Make sure to always press the soil against the probe with your fingers.

Replacing the batteries
As soon as the light no longer lights up or the lights start to glow weakly, it is necessary to replace the batteries. Loosen the screw on the white housing and remove the white cover. Now replace the 2 batteries (AG13, SR44, LR44, EPX76 or 357/3030) and screw the white cover back on. When you see the red light flashing, water as soon as possible to conserve the batteries. With normal use, the batteries last about 1 year.
